About the Facilitator

Amanda Bailey, Trigonos

Amanda is passionate about bringing nature into modern everyday life to boost wellbeing, and deepen self-connection so you can create the life you love. Her home is a stone cottage in the Macclesfield hills where she walks the land and loves any excuse to stumble into a cafe for a cuppa, and cake!

Amanda’s personal journey re-connecting with nature in her late 30s led her on a journey of transformation. In 2019 she reached a fork in the road. Stuck in a cycle of feeling disconnected from herself, and with the stresses of a demanding fashion career taking its toll on her wellbeing she made a decision to brave uncertainty and change her life. With nature as her guide she has reconnected with her true self, uncovered her soul’s calling and, created a new life, and business, that she really loves.

Working with organisations such as National Trust along with corporate and private 1:1 and group clients Amanda serves from the heart as a guide, coach, mentor and trainer.

A note from Lara

Special Health considerations for Hypopressives:
The apnoea (breath-hold with vacuum) element of Hypopressive breathwork is not recommended if you are pregnant or affected by any of the following health complaints;

  • an active cancer

  • cardio-respiratory disease

  • uncontrolled blood pressure

  • acute inflammatory gut disorder such as Crohn’s Disease

  • had recent abdominal surgery

This is because, during the Hypopressive apnoea, pressures within the body are lowered. This ‘vacuum effect’, may not be tolerated in people with the conditions above, but will not affect your ability to do and enjoy the other elements of Hypopressive exercise.

Upon booking you will be required to complete a short health questionnaire to ensure that where necessary the technique is modified to suit you.

If in any doubt, you must seek advice from your doctor/relevant heath care professional before booking a place, I will not be able to make judgement on your fitness to participate on the day.

About the Facilitator

Her journey though life has taken twists and turns that have been challenging, interesting and brought her lots of enjoyment. Travelling for 4 years whilst she decided what she should do with her life broadened her horizons. Working in social care as a social worker and latterly a dementia trainer has increased her awareness of the trials and tribulations facing many people as well as developing her creativeness and problem-solving skills. Becoming a grandma has certainly given her  much more fun that she’d ever have imagined. Working in adult career guidance made her think about the challenges faced when thinking about what’s important in life and how we have to balance where our hearts want to lead us and what is actually possible in our situations.

All of this and more has led penny to run workshops about thinking about how we make the most of our later life.

About the Facilitator

Eta Ingham Lawrie, Weaving Colours, Trigonos

Eta Ingham Lawrie is a remarkable artist who over more than six decades has brought light, warmth and colour into people’s lives – whether by working on a small scale producing a range of textile pieces for individuals, or by creating magnificent large scale hangings for public buildings and private collectors.  Her work is said to be “both intensely bold and extraordinarily subtle”.

The inspiration for Eta’s woven wall-hangings comes from the ever-changing light over land and sea, and on which she bases her creations, using hand dyed fleece and wool, and many other natural materials.  She also incorporates natural found objects such as stone, shell, and wood into her weavings.

SAORI Garment Making Workshop with Rosie Green
May

SAORI Garment Making Workshop with Rosie Green

Join Rosie Green, experienced textile artist and facilitator, on this fun and creative workshop.

SAORI weaving is rooted in the activity of free-flowing, uninhibited hand weaving and the core philosophy that we are all born with unique sensibilities and the power to create. SAORI is not only a practice of connecting deeply with one’s own creative and authentic self, but it is also a practice of connecting deeply with others. By discovering and nurturing our individuality yet shared humanity and ability to express ourselves, we cultivate awareness and compassion within ourselves and our global community.

SAORI is a Japanese freestyle approach to hand-weaving that encourages people to express themselves intuitively in a fun ‘no rules, no mistakes’ attitude.

The process of making SAORI clothing does not require proficient sewing skills, just simple straight stitch on a sewing machine or sewing by hand!

We will be making a warp in a quick and easy SAORI way then weaving a length of cloth to make a simple SAORI style garment.

This retreat is aimed at those who already have a SAORI loom and would like the support, encouragement and shared inspiration to make a warp, weave the cloth and sew a garment. It is however also also open to complete beginners!

In addition to developing or learning to weave, this retreat will give allow you to unwind and find your inner peace as you work through the gentle art of SAORI weaving.

Workshop Highlights:

Opportunity to Switch Off: Escape from the hectic pace of life, slow down and create something with your hands and heart.

Creativity with Likeminded People: Enjoy some you time whilst also sharing time with others.

Delicious Nourishing Food: Enjoy our deliciously grown bio dynamic produce, from the land to the plate, lovingly created by our chefs for you to enjoy.

Tranquil Surroundings: Indulge in relaxation, leisurely walks, and fireside reading in a beautiful part of Wales, Eryri National Park.

What is SAORI?

SAORI weaving is a philosophy of personal creativity and self development practiced all over the world. With some it is a form of meditation, with others it is a means of relaxing and recharging their energies. And of course others who simply want to weave cloth!

We do not make plans, or have set ideas of what we will weave, and the finished cloth is always a surprise and a joy. The design of the looms and the type of materials we use produce a cloth that is suitable for garment making. These garments are simple, with little or no cutting to celebrate the cloth, and where drape and adjustments allow for individuality and a unique garment to suit the maker.

Within the SAORI philosophy there are five slogans of weaving which will be followed during the retreat:

  • Consider the differences between a machine and a human being

  • Be bold and adventurous

  • Look out through eyes that shine

  • Inspire one another and everyone in the community

We will follow the SAORI philosophy that we are born with creativity and intuition.

What to Expect:

From the Heart: Slip away and inspiration will come to ‘weave from your heart’. There is no pressure or expectation yet you will be surprised and amazed by what you produce in the day.

Deepen your Connection with Your Natural Self: Enhance your self-understanding through SAORI.

Disconnect from the Modern World: Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life to flow with the calming rhythm of Trigonos an option digital detox to truly unwind too.

Nourish Your Wellbeing: Rejuvenate your mental, physical state.

This Workshop will Help You:

• Calm your Mind: With a ‘no rules, no mistakes’ philosophy SAORI| weaving will relax your state of being.
• Timeout for Yourself: Opportunity to get away from the busyness of day to day life.

Who is this Workshop For?

This workshop is for anyone who needs a bit of time to switch off and re-focus, or who just wants to try something new and spend time in a beautiful place in the heart of Eryri with other like minded people.

One of the best experiences I have booked. Rosie is an amazing woman. She completely makes you feel at ease and instills confidence in your ability to weave. And she is totally correct! I made a beautiful table runner. However, the whole experience is more than creating a beautiful piece of weaving. Words do not accurately describe this phenomenal experience. Make this a destination on your journey. Simply Amazing!

About the Facilitator

Rosie Green, Saori Making, Trigonos Event

Rosie Green was first drawn to the practical process of hand weaving when she took a course in textiles. Since then she has followed a path in weaving. In 1982 Rosie moved to North Wales where she started demonstrating in the Bodeilio Weaving Centre on Anglessey. In 2014 Rosie opened SAORIMôr and was the first registered SAORI free-weaving studio in Wales.

As her practice as an Artist Facilitator has developed and changed over the years, Rosie has learned many things about the creative process, its value and its place in the lives of all of us. The process of SAORI helps us find our way.

I am a facilitator and instructor in SAORI weaving but I also have a long experience in traditional weaving. This helps me understand the various approaches people might have and helps me support each individual and their particular needs. The SAORI looms are easy to use and allow for the use of accessories to enable those who have any form of disability, whether significant or less so, to weave with equal value to anyone else. There is no judgement or comparison, we are all equal as human beings.
— Rosie Green

An Insight to the Day…

The day will start with the usual introductions to make sure everyone is comfortable and understands what to expect. For the rest of the day each person works at their own pace weaving with colours and textures of their own choice with support and encouragement from Rosie. You can work quietly or talk and ask as many questions as you like. At the end of the day you will cut the work from the looms and share your experiences of the day. This can be a time to chat about what your cloth might be, share how you feel or just learn how to finish off your work.

The experience left me with a whole feeling that I haven’t had for years. A feeling that things are just as they should be. In that way there was something transformative and transcendental for me.
— Rose

About the Facilitators

Lucas Davey

Lucas is a trained druidic bard, published author (of The Whispering Pearls), nature and visionary artist and forest gardener who is passionate about this ancient and sacred landscape we inhabit, its wildlife and our connection and relationship to them. Adopted at birth, he has always held a fascination with both our personal and collective historical and cultural ‘roots’, particularly with exploring and revealing those alchemical pathways, places and stories of our past hidden or lost to the mists of time. In line with his family’s tradition (his great grandfather founded The Byre Theatre in St Andrews, Scotland), Lucas turned his bardic talents to creating Into the Dragon’s Womb, a production he recently performed to rave reviews on the Goddess Fyr Stage at this year’s Medicine Festival. Into the Dragon’s Womb is more than just theatre, but explores the actor’s role as shaman, plunging the audience into a mythological deep-dive which, as one audience member wrote, “touches the core of who we are, reminding us of our role and responsibilities within the greater web of all beings”.

Milly Jackdaw

In 1996 Milly had a profound and unexpected encounter with Merlin whilst meditating in the eye of the neolithic, chalk figure carved into the side of Whitehorse Hill, Uffington near Oxford. Milly subsequently fulfilled her dream of becoming a professional performer and worked as such with an environmental children’s theatre company. In addition to performances, Milly facilitates workshops and run nature-based residencies in the UK. Milly has studied Welsh Mythology, trained in field ecology, plant whispering and animal communication, is a trustee of ecological restoration charity Coetir Anian, and has completed a rewilding apprenticeship. She has facilitated nature connection, tree medicine and storytelling workshops as well as leading story walks. This year Milly has been supported by Arts Council Wales to research and develop a storytelling performance based on the tales and histories of Merlin. A note from Lara

Special Health considerations for Hypopressives:
The apnoea (breath-hold with vacuum) element of Hypopressive breathwork is not recommended if you are pregnant or affected by any of the following health complaints;

The reminder to slow down helped me to get lost in the movement.

What is The Alexander Technique?

The Alexander Technique, named after its developer Frederick Matthias Alexander (1869–1955), is an alternative therapy based on the idea that poor posture causes a range of health problem. It allows to to "re-learn" the fundamental building-blocks of movement, posture, balance, breathing and reaction.

The Alexander Technique can offer:

  • Relief from related posture pain,

  • Greater body awareness,

  • Stress management

  • Reduction of tension,

  • Improved results for performers and athletes,

  • A more comfortable pregnancy,

  • Faster recovery time following injury or surgery,

  • Better vocal use,

About the Facilitator

Alison trained with the  Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique in Kendal, Cumbria and has been teaching since 2001.

She has also trained as a Reflexologists with the Association of Reflexologists, Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance Professionals,  and specialises in Pregnancy and Childbirth qualifying as a Doula and in Eutokia.

Before her training she worked in the computer industry and initially came across the Alexander Technique through back pain.

She has always had a love of movement and wanted to be a dancer as a child but suffered from digestive pain and was unable to pursue this dream.

Since her mid twenties she has applied her Alexander Technique and Yoga knowledge to improving her quality of movement and running style. She now teaches people how to regain the joy of movement without the need of pain killers or operations. In 2024 she published her first book - The Jigsaw Method - Building balance into your diet with the power of the Moon.

She also has a love for cycling, gardening, and cooking. Through her natural love of cooking she runs cookery demonstrations and developed a routine to help maintain her digestive health which she now teaches on her Re-balancing Your Diet Programmes along with the concept of Life Style Nutrition.

With her family of two boys she has developed an interest with teaching the Alexander Technique to children both in and out of school.

This type of work really inspires Alison to create fun ways of learning both for adults and children, helping people learn in an easy way, feeding their confidence and spirit.

SAORI Garment Making Workshop with Rosie Green
Sept
13

Lara’s retreat was fantastic. She is very experienced and knowledgeable and was able to clearly explain both the practice and the underpinning evidence. The practical elements were invaluable, with demonstrations and individual feedback. Lara is an excellent teacher and is sensitive and professional in discussing this topic. She was happy to answer questions, and did so with clarity and reassurance. Overall this has been a hugely interesting and useful retreat and provides a solid foundation for women wanting to understand their body and explore hypopressives.

What to Expect:

Through the weekend, Lara will discuss simple ways we can protect our feminine health, with practical sessions focusing on Hypopressive breathwork, foundation postures, and a Level 1 standing flow that integrates breathwork and postural holds within a flowing movement sequence.

This Retreat will Help You:

• Improve attitude: Feel more positive in your feminine health.
• Improve connection: More 'together' & confident in your posture, core and pelvic floor.

Hypopressive exercise offers a gentle and holistic approach to enhancing core, pelvic floor & overall health,

Every woman, of whatever age, will learn really useful information and skills to help take care of our pelvic health. I wish I had learned more about how my body actually works years ago. A note from Lara

Special Health considerations for Hypopressives:
The apnoea (breath-hold with vacuum) element of Hypopressive breathwork is not recommended if you are pregnant or affected by any of the following health complaints;

If in any doubt, you must seek advice from your doctor/relevant heath care professional before booking a place, I will not be able to make judgement on your fitness to participate on the day
